Watch Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs Marco Antonio Rubio Live Stream

Welcome Boxing Lovers! It's time again for another great world of boxing action, the most awaited boxing match between Julio César Chávez Jr. vs. Marco Antonio Rubio, billed as Welcome to the Future, this bout is a Middleweight match for the WBC world title Championship. The bout will be held on February 4, 2012, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, United States.

This Saturday night top Middleweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Marco Antonio Rubio will battle for the WBC title. WBC middleweight king Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. will defend his crown against fellow Mexican countryman The Poison Marco Antonio Rubio tomorrow night at the Alamodome in San Antonio Texas.

Chavez Jr. currently holds an overall record of 44-0-1, having won twenty straight scraps since enduring his career’s lone blemish six years ago. The upcoming bout with Rubio will be the rising star’s second consecutive clash in Texas, racking up a fifth round TKO against Peter Manfredo Jr. in Houston last month, and second time he’s visited the home of The Alamo in his previous five fights.

Rubio has gone 10-0 with nine knockouts and has been a far more authoritative, confident-appearing fighter. Among those 10 victories was an impressive seventh-round stoppage of one of the game’s elite prospects, David Lemieux, on April 8, 2011. Lemieux entered the fight with a 25-0 record and 24 knockouts and was hailed as a potential star.

HBO doubleheader this weekend The Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs Marco Antonio Rubio and Super Bantamweight Championship: Nonito Donaire vs. Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. The main event, Chavez Jr. vs. Rubio, has the makings for a good one, too. These two guys are tough, with fairly good power, and each tends to fight at a high pace with a physical style.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.: Has kept the mystery alive in his boxing career and will be a heavy favorite to defend his title on February 4. A lot will be on the line for the WBC champion, who will surely step into the big-time over his next few fights if he can come out on top against Rubio.

Despite his height he fights inside and is very good inside game throwing combinations very well. He is aggressive and has improved defence since working with Freddie Roach. He has also improved his strength and conditioning significantly in his last fight against Manfredo.

Chavez Jr. made great strides in his most recent TKO stoppage win over Peter Manfredo Jr.; he boxed effectively from the outside showing improved ring generalship and poise throughout the contest. Chavez looked superb physically; his conditioning looking better than it has looked in a while. These key elements are to the credit of trainer Freddie Roach and strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza. Chavez’ best weapon is his bludgeoning left-hook to the body, a punch that can be an ender to any fight, at any time. Overall, he doesn’t possess otherworldly power, but he is a strong puncher.

Weaknesses: He does not fight on the outside much and is not a technically sound fighter. He does not possess power as a middleweight so his work ethic will have to make up for it.

Marco Antonio Rubio: is on a current 10-fight win streak that includes nine KOs. The hard-hitting veteran will be looking to take out Chavez before the fight gets into the late-middle rounds, where Chavez will likely hold an edge. Expect the Bovada underdog line on Rubio to grow from its starting point.

Keys to victory for Rubio will be to land the big shot and not to over-commit as he’s trying to do so. If he takes the fight to Chavez he will have a puncher’s chance for a nice upset payday. Chavez will need to stay close to Rubio and apply the pressure from the first bell. If he can weather the storm for the first few rounds his improved cardio should give him an edge in the championship rounds.

His biggest strength is his power and has shown throughout his career that his power can get him out of trouble as evidence suggests in his fight against David Lemieux where he exhibited beautiful strategy by letting Lemieux punch himself out.

Marco Antonio Rubio is a certified fighter’s fighter in every aspect of the phrase. He’s tough, gritty, and has will for days with underrated boxing ability. Against David Lemieux, he was able to weather the storm and eventually break the young powerhouse with his counters and power punching ability. Rubio is very heavy handed, possessing what many refer to as “long power.” His build and ability to fight tall, along with his counter-punching ability can be destructive for pressure fighters. Although Chavez isn’t necessarily a balls-to-the-wall pressure fighter, he does do most of his best work punching in volume to win rounds. Rubio has shown that he can withstand said pressure, and this bodes well for him in this fight.

Weakness: His defence can be cause for concern as seen in his fight some years back against Koffi Jantuah. He tends to get carried away with trying to land a big punch and that’s what gets him in trouble. Marco Antonio Rubio is being sold as a major test for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr tomorrow night in San Antonio, live on HBO.
